Our multi-talented Director, Solicitor and High Court Enforcement Officer (HCEO), Eric Roe, has penned an article for Credit Management magazine, the industry-leading publication from the Chartered Institute of Credit Management (CICM).
In the latest edition of the magazine, Eric documents his unexpected journey to becoming an HCEO and discusses the evolving role of enforcement in a modern world. Eric grew up with aspirations of travelling the world as an RAF pilot, but this couldn’t be further from where he is now. After joining Wilson & Roe in 2016, Eric qualified as an HCEO, a role which he could never have envisaged himself fulfilling.
After taking a break to complete his training as a solicitor, Eric returned to Wilson & Roe in 2021 to undertake multiple roles in the company as a Director, Solicitor and HCEO.
As both an elected Director of the High Court Enforcement Officers Association (HCEOA) and a member of the Association's Education Working Party, Eric has been putting his experience to good use to help further the profession. He has collaborated extensively with the CICM – the official assessor of all HCEOA training courses – to ensure that the education pathway and resources for prospective HCEOs are tailored for a digitalised, more modern approach. Eric explains:
"The enforcement world is rapidly evolving and is having to advance quickly in an ever-modernising society. Even in the short time since I qualified it has dramatically changed, especially as the court system steps towards digitalisation and society still grapples with how more established roles and positions, such as High Court Enforcement Officers, fit in the modern landscape."
Eric's knowledge and experience are invaluable to the Wilson & Roe team and the work we undertake collecting debt and reclaiming property on behalf of our clients.
This year, Eric and our team of highly trained HCEOs will be running a series of training sessions designed to guide debt recovery professionals through the enforcement process, with topics covering the role of enforcement officers, transferring a CCJ to the High Court and avoiding common pitfalls.
