Success for the Wilson & Roe Team on Debtor Chargebacks

Over the years, chargebacks have caused many issues and not just at Wilson & Roe.

It’s common for chargebacks to happen when our Enforcement Agents take a payment under a Writ of Control. The debtor/payee then contacts their bank disputing the transaction and wrongfully, but successfully, charges the funds back.

By the time we are made aware of chargebacks, we have usually paid funds over to our clients, and, more often than not, they have paid their claimant which creates a difficult situation.

At Wilson & Roe, we work hard to ensure a debt that has been paid, and is then subject to a chargeback, is successfully collected again. We recently proved this by completing a challenging case.

Led by Tina Webber-Rostron, Head of Enforcement Operations, the Wilson & Roe team re-attended a trading business where the company’s Director had previously claimed another of his companies occupied the premises and not the debtor company.

Before re-attending, Tina reviewed the documentation supplied by the Director. She was not satisfied that another company occupied or owned the assets within the building, and on the advice of our Enforcement Agents, arranged for a two-man team to re-attend.

During the reattendance, the debtor became aggressive and the police were called to assist. It wasn’t until our team commenced removal of assets that eventually the Director agreed to make a bank transfer.

Commenting on the case, Tina said: “It was a great team effort. At Wilson & Roe, we do not back down. We review, assess and make preparations that deliver results.”
