Welsh Government Brings in Regulations Prohibiting Evictions

December 11, 2020

Category: News

Following on from England bringing a Statutory Instrument (SI) into force last month, Welsh Ministers have now also laid regulations prohibiting certain evictions between 11th December 2020 and 11th January 2021.

The new regulations prevent enforcement agents from executing a writ or warrant of possession, executing a writ or warrant of restitution or delivering a notice of eviction.

However, there are exemptions for serious circumstances. These include:

  • Illegal trespassers by persons unknown
  • Domestic violence
  • Serious offences
  • Anti-social or nuisance behaviour
  • Properties unoccupied at the time of attendance following the death of the occupant

The full Statutory Instrument can be found here.
